Ixocon Develops New Logistics Center for the Volkswagen Group

A logistics property of over 50,000 square meters will be developed in Volksmarsen to warehouse original VW parts

The Hamburg project developer for logistics real estate is constructing a new building for the warehousing, packing and shipping of original Volkswagen parts on an approximately 9 hectare complex. The property encompasses 50,000 square meters and has been leased from Rudolph Automotive Logistik GmbH for ten years.

Volkmarsen is conveniently located near the A44 motorway and approximately 30 kilometers from the Volkswagen factory in Kassel/Baunatal. A planned ring road will facilitate the local connection. A strategic advantage of the new location is the rail connection. Dr. Torsten Rudolph, Managing Director of Rudolph Automotive Logistik confirms: „The location is convincing. And with Ixocon we’ve found a partner that will quickly and reliably construct exactly the building that is perfectly tailored to the needs of VW’s logistics.“

Construction has already started. Completion and initial operation of the property is planned for the second quarter of 2012. The property will meet sustainable construction standards; Ixocon is striving for DGNB certification.

Ixocon has opened up a new region with the development of this property. „The development of the new logistics center in Volkmarsen is one of our largest projects and the first milestone of our expansion.
